Join fellow Hillsborough residents by signing the petition and telling Hillsborough City Council to:

Put the interests of our citizens before corporations. Take back control of the wireless coverage issue in Hillsborough by insisting on best-in-class wireless installations and design standards that respect our town's aesthetic beauty. We should - and CAN - have both!

  1. Ensure new wireless installations are at least 150 feet from homes to avoid erosion of property values, as do similar towns, like Los Altos Hills, which protects its citizens via setback requirements of 200 feet for homes and 1100 feet for schools.

  2. Strengthen Hillsborough’s design standards, allowing for subjective criteria like aesthetics, as reinforced by the 2020 9th Circuit Court decision. Deny any non-conforming wireless installation applications, including the 13 proposed Crown Castle applications, until these code updates are executed through an open and democratic legislative process.

  3. Improve cellular coverage in Hillsborough with best-in-class wireless infrastructure that is compliant with our town's aesthetic values rather than the plan that is cheapest for the carriers.

  4. Rescind the Crown Castle settlement agreement that permanently cripples the Town's wireless design standards, puts too many non-conforming cell installations near homes, and opens the door to future additional non-conforming wireless infrastructure from all wireless carriers.

  5. Reform the Wireless Communications Advisory Committee (WCAC) as a council-level committee reporting directly into the Town Council (like the ADRB). Ensure it includes members with wireless technology and equipment expertise and make sure the meetings are publicly noticed and have minutes taken.

  6. Develop a wireless master plan using independent experts in cellular technology and equipment, that offers the best wireless coverage for our town while minimizing the total numbers of wireless installations. Respect Hillsborough’s aesthetic beauty!

We say YES to better cell coverage in Hillsborough. We say NO to cell towers near our homes and schools.
